LINK CREW
Link Crew LeadershipGrade 11-12
Credit: 1 Prerequisite: Students must submit application and receive teacher recommendation. Link Crew Leadership is a class offering that engages students in learning about leadership and mentoring. The guiding principle that sustains Link Crew is the invaluable and untapped resource at our school: students. This program engages, develops, and trains upper class students as leaders and mentors. Link Crew Leadership is more than just training; it is about helping freshmen achieve success, both academically and socially, as they navigate one of the most pivotal times in their lives to date: the difficult transition from middle school to high school. This initial taste of success propels freshment toward a positive experience throughout their high school experience. As "Link Crew Leders" students will acquire a skill set, which includes 3 mandatory half days of training in late August, which will benefit them regardless of the career path they choose. However, the most rewarding and memorable experience along the way might be the positive impact Link Leaders have on their 9th grade "crews" and the culture of Romeo's schools. |
Link Crew 2 / Peer MediationGrade: 12
Credit: 1 Prerequisite: Students must submit application and receive teacher recommendation. Link Crew 2 is geared toward the student who wants to continue with their Link experience as a senior. All students enrolling in Link 2 will receive Peer Mediation training and will be expected to facilitate mediations throughout the school year. Students will be trained to resolve conflicts without adult intervention using a structured process. This includes effective communication and conflict resolution skills. Students in Link 2 will still be responsible for a 9th grade "crew" as they were the previous year. In addition, Link 2 will continue to "link" to RHS by providing the 10th grade with valuable upper-class student contacts and lessons on success in school and life. Link Crew 2 Leaders must attend 3 half days of training in late August. Click Here For The Class Syllabus |
